Janice was born and reared in Maine where she painted its rocky coastline while living in two different lighthouses with her husband and children.
After completing an art course with the Art Instruction School, she moved to New Orleans and later to Texas where she took painting classes in college. In 1976 the family moved to Japan, where she took advantage of the many opportunities to study Asian art.
On returning to Texas in 1978, Janice finished her education and received a Masters of Art degree from the University of Houston in 1994. Janice has trained in all art mediums, but now works primarily in watercolor and acrylic. She has studied with many internationally known artists and has participated in art shows in Texas, Tennessee, and California. Janice's paintings hang in collections in Switzerland, Australia and
several U.S. states. Her work is best described as “creative realism”, but she has enjoyed abstract also since participating in workshops with Virginia Cobb (2004) and Betsy Dillard Stroud (2005)
